General sentence structure. There are three possible annotation values:
- SR for constructions made up of just the sentence radical (basic proposition)
- SR-T1 for constructions with the sentence radical followed by a tag expressing epistemic stance/mood
- SR-T1-T2 for constructions with the sentence radical followed by two tags expressing epistemic stance/mood
SR
SR-T1
SR-T1-T2
Components of sentence structure. There are two sets of labels:
(1) Labels for the sentence radical (basic descriptive content of the sentence):
SR-[pos/no-pol/neg].(PU) = sentence radical with positive (e.g. head nodding) / no / negative (e.g. head shaking) polarity marking. The suffix PU is added to the label for sentences with prosodically integrated PALM-UP.
(2) Labels for tags following the sentence radical:
- RIGHT for the sign glossed as SURE-A/B/C in Signbank
- HES for signs such as PALM-UP, WHAT-C, and HESITATE, which signal hesitation
- OR[pos/neg] for 'or (not)' constructions, introducing an alternative
- YES for the sign YES-A used with a meaning approximating Dutch modal particle 'wel'
- Combinatory label OR[pos/neg]-HES for constructions with two tags.
When the tag is accompanied by a headshake which does not express negation, the suffix 'inqhs', for 'inquisitive headshake', is added.
